Weather was 53 and pouring rain yesterday, rain and 40's today. No snow which is good but when we get rain and it freezes that is worse than snow.

Just wanted to update on weather since I am trying to keep a record for guests so they will know how it changes from day to day and year to year

Today was another cold day, about 34*, pouring the rain though so I am hoping it does not go below 32* or there will be ice and we will not be able to get out of our drive again. Hoping that does not happen, have lots of printing to do and orders to get shipped.

As I mentioned yesterday I am going to try to keep track of the weather each day so everyone can see what the weather is like in the Hocking Hills at martinwoods Cabins.

Today we hand wind, sun and about 50+ very nice for the start of the day then rained and got much colder, so we will see what tomorrow brings:)

People always ask what the weather is going to be like, though there is no way to determine that from year to year, (we are lucky if we know from day to day) we have decided to try and put the temp on here each day as a way of keeping track of what the weather is so people can see for themselves how it changes from day to day here at Martinwoods Cabins in Hocking Hills

Today is was very foggy, we were supposed to have a high of 40 something but as of 5pm it never made it over 34* and of course we still had plenty of ice here at the cabin.

Hope this will be of some use to everyone that reads our blog.

Lots of ice today

We decided not to rent the cabin this weekend due to the ice and snow. Since the Westwind cabin is on a large hill and has a steep gravel drive we felt it best to not rent to anyone because we know that they would not be able to make it up or down the hill for that matter since there was so much ice.

We would rather lose the money than have someone get here and not be able to get in and out of the cabin to go enjoy the sites of the Hocking Hills.

We are ready for spring but tomorrow is supposed to be in the 40's so hoping it melts the ice.

Snowy Day

The snow is beautiful in Hocking Hills and at Martinwoods Cabins but I am still hoping for an early spring, I just have a better outlook all together when it is warm outside and the birds are chirping. One of the greatest things about summer, at least for me is to lay down at night and listen to the crickets, they put me to sleep in a way nothing else can. I love the sounds of nature and cannot wait to hear them all again very soon.

There is the winter hike this month at Old Mans Cave and just sitting around a fire in the great room is a great way to spend quality time with friends and family, free from stress and work.

Above normal temps

I love the Hocking Hills and I love the face that we are having some above normal temps, wish it would continue.

It is a new year and everything is going great. I hope that this year I can have great guests like most of the guests we have. This year we have had a few really bad customers and I hope that does not happen this year. All we ask is that when you come to our cabin that we built for you to enjoy that you treat it properly. We have had a few customers this year that thought it was ok to destroy things and even one group that thought it was ok to break into and unauthorized area.Mind you this group was not a group of young adults but a group that had parents as well as grand parents.

We take pride in our cabin and just want our guests to do the same.

So hoping this year we will have no issues:)

I love all of our guests and repeat guests and just want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great time while respecting our proerty.

Rainy Day

It is a rainy day in the Hocking Hills but still beautiful, trees are nice orange and reds. I love the colors but I do not like the change to cold weather, guess that is where the hot tub comes in handy:). Have another great group coming this weekend. Hope they get to take lots of pics of the trees that are changing.

Well I guess winter is on its way, it is freezing here in Hocking Hills this morning and the rain does not make it any better. Hope it warms up again soon. We have a group in Martinwoods Cabins this weekend that were going to Wayne National Forest to rides ATV's, hopefully the weather will hold off for them to enjoy themselves.

I would first like to thank all of my great guests. We have had some not so great guests because they cannot respect others property but I do appreciate all the great repeat customers that we have. It is getting colder as falls begins and it makes for a great hot tub experience. If you have never tried a hot tub when the snow falls you are missing out. It is so beautiful to sit in a nice warm hot tub and look up as the snow falls on your face.

Many people think that when you get out it will be cold but it is quite the opposite, since your blood warms up while you are in the hot tub it is not bad at all when you step out.

Spring is Almost here

It is finally starting to slowly warm up and I cannot be more happy about it. I love spring and summer and I love being able to get outdoors when it gets warmer as I am sure most of you do. Now is the time to start booking for summer break, we have a large cabin that is great for large groups and families.

It has been a little while since I posted, so much going on, facebook, twitter, business etc.

I just want to thank all of my guests that have come to our cabin and have had a great time that they decided to become repeat guests. I love when we can provide a place for a family to getaway and yet feel like they have a little bit of home with all the conveniences that the cabin offers

It has been really cold but this is the best time to really enjoy a hot tub. Hard to believe it is the middle of January already.

I cannot believe it is getting dark so early. It is hard to believe that summer is almost over, I am not a winter person although it is great for hot tubs and fireplaces at the cabin. Take advantage of our August special of 10% off weekends and 20% off weekdays.

Hocking Hills winter storm

Winter is not over yet, just had a winter storm here in the Hocking Hills, good thing the guests parked at the bottom of the hill as I suggested, the electric went out for a few hours. You never can tell about the weather in Ohio.

When coming to the Hocking Hills in the winter be prepared, bring food that you can eat if the electric goes out, have wood to keep warm.

It is not good to be stuck anywhere but at our cabins in the Hocking Hills at least you have the beauty of nature to look at and walk around in :)

It is still snowing tonight here in Hocking Hills. We had quite a bit of snow at the cabins today and of course the first snow my jeep decided to let me down for the first time in 8 years. My guests had to park at the bottom of the hill since they did not bring 4 wheel drive as mentioned, we will have to try and get all of their stuff carried down since I do not have my jeep to go up the fill

When coming to the Hocking Hills in the winter it is always a good idea to bring 4 wheel drive. We do let everyone know that if you come to our cabins in the Hocking Hills during the winter and we get snow we cannot be responsible for getting you up and down the hills, they are very steep but we do plow but there are those unusual occasions like today when the jeep was not able to do what it needed because the frame cracked and needs to be repaired. I have never had this happen in the 9 years we have been open but there is always a first like today. The Hocking Hills is not a place to be without 4 wheel drive in the winter, if you have ever been to the Hocking Hills you know what I am talking about, if you have never been to the Hocking Hills just ask anyone, there are many hills and curves and 4 wheel drive is a must when there is snow.

Well we finally got a break in the weather. It has been really cold but today not too bad at all for December. It is cold outside but warm inside. What a great place to come and unwind before or after the holidays. The fireplace and hot tub are the two things that make the cabin a great place to be and of course the privacy, being surrounded by the trees and being able to see nothing at night but the stars is wonderful. We had a chance to stay at one of our cabins this weekend, something we never get to do and it was wonderful, I loved relaxing in the hot tub and watching the stars and the planes way off in the distance. I can honestly say I would love to be here all of the time. (maybe one of these days I can retire to one of them) they are beautiful, and I am not just saying that because I am the owner. It is true. The surroundings are nothing but the woods and the sounds of nature, so if you love being alone with a loved one in the woods this is the perfect spot. Very relaxing.

Well after a rainy start it didn't do anything today. The sun came out and it was acually pretty nice 70*and partly sunny. The fox was out again, there are actually 5 and they are red fox (so cute) they let me get pretty close (within about 10 ft) and they just sit there while I talk to them. I love the outdoors, I wish it was summer year round so I could enjoy nature in the hocking hills all year long.

Well I have everyone checked in for today so I am going to go home. We are still offering some great specials for the month of May so you want to be sure to take advantage of the savings.

Today it was a little chilly getting out of bed but it got better as the day went on.
Got all the cabins cleaned so I went to a bike ride but it was really windy, (makes it hard to ride when it is coming at you).

I can't wait for the weather to get warm again, I love it when it is in the 80's and I can lay in the hammocks in between getting the cabins ready for the next guests. It is just so peaceful hear, no roads with a bunch of noise from cars, no neighbors just the sounds of the chipmunks and other little creatures making noise as they run through the leaves in the woods.

If you would like some peace and quite and love the sounds of nature come stay a few nights at our cabins in the Hocking Hills. We are approx 8 miles from Old Mans Cave and 5 miles from Conkles Hollow, if you like to fish we are about 5 miles from Lake Logan and just about 7 miles to Kroger and Wal-Mart and some of the are restaurants like Bob Evans, Arby's, McDonald's, Olde Dutch and then of course there is the Millstone BBQ and the LasCascada Mexican restaurant.

Hocking Hills today, cold again. No sun. At least yesterday there was some sun to help warm things up. The cabins are all ready for spring, the hammocks will be coming out shortly and I know everyone is ready to start grilling out.
If you love to grill and get away from it all to relax then our cabins are the perfect place for you to vacation. Whether you have 2 people or 20 we have a cabin for you.

I am so excited to have the time change, because we will have daylight much longer and the crickets will soon be chirping. I love to have the windows open when I go to bed so I can listen to the peaceful sounds of nature. The wooded property at our cabins provide the perfect backdrop for the sounds of nature. We have 4 little red fox that come and visit as well as deer, turkey, raccoons and other tiny creatures. The fox are so cute, they let you get so close to them before backing up just a bit to keep you at a small distance. I love when the weather gets nice because I get to see all the cute animals coming back.

What a difference a day can make, it is freezing today in the Hocking Hills. I went to the cabins today and it was so cold changing hot tubs, very windy also. Compared to yesterday it is horrible.

I love hot weather, 90* year round would be my perfect weather. I cannot wai until summer gets here. I would love to be in Arizona right now instead of the Hocking Hills :)

I know that my customers at martinwoods cabin rentals will be happy to see spring and summer, many of the new customers think I am kidding when I mention 4 wheel drive being a must here in the hocking hills at our cabins, until they get here are realize it was not a joke at all.

I look forward to seeing all the familiar faces and many new ones that are scheduled to visit our cabins here in the hills, it is such a beautiful place and it can only be appreciated by staying in one of our cabins and enjoying the surroundings and seeing what the hocking hills has to offer
